Focusing on Jesus

We are often worried and distracted by so many things.

The busyness that we allow to define us.

The opinions of others that harm more than help.

The “shoulds” of this world that may have nothing to do with God’s plan.

In contrast to Martha, Mary got it right.

In this passage in Luke, her quiet determination to focus on Jesus is clear.

Her undaunted spirit that shrugs off the opinions of others is powerful.

Her willingness to ignore the “shoulds” of her culture and put God’s kingdom first is an example worth following in our lives today.

Luke 10: 38-42 (NIV)
Proverbs 29:25 (NIV)
