Sheep are vulnerable creatures.
When separated from the herd, this is particularly true.
When left to their own devices, they tend to get lost.
Without a shepherd to lead and protect them, things can go south, fast.
Jesus often refers to himself as our Good Shepherd.
Such symbolism is filled with the tender love he has for us.
The deep knowledge he has of us.
The guidance and protection he wants to provide.
If we will only listen for his voice.
And follow him.
John 10: 14-15, 27-28 (NIV)
